Green teen Machine camp: Oceans & Motions
Tree Frog Treks is back for another summer of Full-Day Green Machine Adventures! Parents of kids who "aged out" of Tree Frog Trek camps asked us if we would do a “teens” camp, so last summer we ran "Oceans & Motions" for kids entering 6th-9th grade. It was super fun filled, and memorable adventures were made- we can’t wait to do it again! Each day we meet at Golden Gate Park and take field trips to explore coastal ecosystems, including rocky shore tide pools, exposed and sheltered beaches, bays, and estuaries. Kids will be introduced to local natural history, wildlife, oceanography (e.g., tides and currents), and basic water safety. We hike, we swim (with Lifeguard and Naturalist supervision), we dig in the sand, and we make new friends. Our goal is to build leadership and critical thinking skills through experiential learning while adventuring in nature with peers and naturalists. Our Far Reaching, Outrageous & Green Teen campers will also help lead Community outreach programs such as SF Public library Summer Stride branch visits, TFT camp animal time and Animals Outside in local parks so we can share what we know so the world can grow! During each session, campers will also have the opportunity to have VIP access at Frog Hall where they can chill out with Chiquita the Burmese Python, Trucker the Tortoise, and Artemis the Blue-tongued Skink.

Green Teen Machine Camp is designed for campers in 6th to 9th grade.
Full-Day Camp summer 2024 Dates:
Teen camps are from from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, for rising 6th-9th graders.
Block A1: June 10th - June 14th
Block A2: June 17th - June 21st
Block B1: June 24th - June 28th
Block B2: July 1st - July 3rd **short holiday session
Block C1: July 8th - July 12th
Block C2: July 15th - July 19th
Block D1: July 22nd - July 26th
Block D2: July 29th - August 2nd
Block E1: August 5th - August 9th
Block E2: August 12th - August 16th

FULL DAY camp rate per week: $730
Pro-rated rates for sessions with holidays.
Sibling discounts and multi-session discounts available.
For 2024 Summer Camp Sessions our cancellation REFUND policy is as follows:
Cancel on or prior to 6/3: Refund or credit issued less 10% cancellation fee
Cancel by 6/10: Refund issued less 50% cancellation fee, or credit less 10% fee
Cancel after 6/10: Camp fees are non-refundable, no exceptions. Funds held on credit less 10% admin fee only if we can find a replacement for your spot
We ask that families who decide to cancel their registrations for camp consider holding their fees as a credit if at all possible. Tree Frog Treks depends on the income from camp to operate all year and provide our staff a living wage, and operate our amphibian and reptile rescue center. Credits do not expire and can be used toward any program in the future for any member of your family.
It is always free to switch your Block to another Block that works better for your schedule (as long as there is space in the Block you'd like to switch to). Please email our office at Info@Treefrogtreks.com to make a switch to your week, but last minute switches are highly discouraged.

Head Naturalist Bio: Jim Kurpius is a biologist, teacher, naturalist, and guide. He grew up in the Bay Area and has spent much of his life along the coast between San Francisco and Santa Cruz. Jim completed his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley in Integrative Biology and graduated from UC Santa Cruz, earning a BA in biology. His research interests range from population genetics to paleontology and focused on evolutionary patterns of marine invertebrates in both fossil and living species. He believes that making connections with students is at the heart of teaching, whether in the field or in the classroom. Jim is keen to find out what interests students and engage with each student at their level.
Jim is a former whitewater river guide, sea kayak guide/naturalist, research diver, and ski instructor. He lives out at the beach in San Francisco, is raising two kids, and enjoys surfing, kayaking, back country travel, and adventures of all sorts.
