Animals available for adoption

Tree Frog Treks is dedicated to the well-being of animals and the importance of responsible pet ownership. Our adoption program not only provides loving homes for animals in need but also promotes education and awareness about the importance of conservation and respecting wildlife.

Each animal undergoes a thorough health assessment and behavioral evaluation to ensure they are ready for adoption and will thrive in their new environment.

Adopting an animal from Tree Frog Treks provides a second chance for animals that may have been neglected or abandoned, giving them the opportunity to live happy and fulfilling lives in loving homes. Secondly, it helps to reduce the demand for wild-caught animals as pets, which have detrimental effects on wild populations and ecosystems. By adopting from us, individuals can contribute to the conservation of species and promote ethical pet ownership practices.

Furthermore, this process provides an educational opportunity for individuals and families. We offer guidance and support to ensure that adopters have the knowledge and resources they need to properly care for their new pet. Through educational programs and workshops, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of animals and their habitats, encouraging empathy, respect, and stewardship for the natural world.

Razorback musk turtle, “squirtle”

A longtime member of Tree Frog Treks, Squirtle is estimated to be around 40 years old and has been lovingly cared for throughout his life. Now, this sweet senior is looking for a calm, committed home where he can enjoy the retirement he deserves.

While he has already lived a long and full life, turtles like him are built for longevity—you can still expect 10-15+ more years together with proper care. Fully grown and very manageable in size, he will not get any larger, making him an excellent fit for someone prepared to provide consistent long-term care.

Care Requirements:

  • An appropriately sized aquarium setup

  • A dry basking area to rest and thermoregulate

  • Proper heat, UVB lighting, and water quality maintenance

We’re hoping to find a family or keeper who can give this special senior the comfortable, loving forever home he deserves. If you think Squirtle may be the right fit for you, we’d love to hear from you. 💚

asian forest tortoise, “po”

Po is a sweet, curious Asian forest tortoise (Manouria emys), estimated to be around 4 years old. While still young, Po has a lot of growing ahead of her—this species is among the largest tortoises in mainland Asia, with adults capable of reaching up to 100 pounds.

This species is also Critically Endangered in the wild, facing severe population declines due to habitat loss and overcollection. Because of their conservation status and specialized care needs, placement will be highly selective.

Po is an engaging tortoise with a calm personality, but she has significant long-term husbandry requirements. Asian forest tortoises require:

  • Very large enclosures with room to roam and dig

  • Consistently high humidity to support healthy growth and shell development

  • Access to proper UVB lighting and heat gradients

  • Specialized diet and environmental management

Due to her size, longevity, and advanced care requirements, an accredited aquarium/zoo, educational facility, or highly experienced tortoise keeper would be the ideal fit for Po.

We are committed to finding Po a permanent home equipped to provide the expert care she deserves for decades to come. If you believe you may be the right fit, we’d love to hear from you. 💚

Leopard gecko, “fred”

Fred has been a cherished part of our program for the past 9 years and is estimated to be around 11 years old. This handsome senior gentleman has helped educate countless people over the years and is now ready to enjoy a well-earned retirement in a calm, loving forever home.

Fred is a male leopard gecko with an incredibly mellow temperament—he’s super chill, easy to handle, and enjoys taking life at his own pace. He would thrive with a knowledgeable reptile keeper who understands leopard gecko care and can provide the comfort, consistency, and proper husbandry a senior gecko deserves.

We’re hoping to find someone who can give Fred the very best golden years possible. 💛
