Summer Camp FAQs - 2024:

Q: WHAT DOES A day in the life at tree frog treks- what does a day at camp look like? click here.

Q:  What should my child bring to camp?

A:  A week prior to camp you will receive a welcome email with information on what your child needs to bring to camp each day.

Q:  Can my child attend just 1 week of camp?

A:  No – children must attend both weeks of a session. We like to keep a consistent group of children for the entire session, and it breaks up the cohesion of the group to have children starting in the middle or leaving early. We are offering one week block sessions at our Mountain Lake based camp and Green Teen Machine camp for Summer of 2024.

Q:  What is your cancellation policy?

A: You can find our cancellation policy here.

Q:  Can I pick-up my child early occasionally?

A:  Yes, we can help facilitate this.  When you drop off your child in the morning, you will need to coordinate where and when to meet your child with one of the Naturalists. Check in with staff about field trip days- camp may be far away from their normal base camp on specific dates.

Q:  Can my child be grouped with his/her friend?

A:  Yes! If your children are similar ages they can be grouped together- Be sure that both parties list the friend’s name under ‘Requested Group Friends’ in your registration.

Q:  Can my 1st grade and 5th grade siblings be in the same group?

A:  We group our campers based on grade, age and friend requests. We think its best for your campers to be in groups with similar interests, abilities and ages for group cohesion. Our Naturalist’s make a large effort on the first days of camp for everyone to get to know each other, meet new friends and create a special bond! If you’d still prefer to have siblings together, please list them in the requested friend field and reach out to our Programs Director at info@treefrogtreks.com.

Q:  This is my first time with Tree Frog Treks.  What will my child be doing at camp all day?

A:  Each Director has their own activities planned for their sites, but it will be a combination of hiking and exploration, games, science activities, art projects, and of course animal time with our Reptiles and Amphibians! We advise you check in with your child’s Site Director and their groups Naturalists to see what their plan is for the day/week/session!

Tree Frog Treks is about exploring nature, meeting animals (live rescue reptiles and amphibians) doing science and art and most of all having fun with our new friends outside. Our credo: is Get out and get dirty! And our motto is: Build a fort, climb a tree, hold a bug, and smell the sea!

Q:  How late can I drop off my child in the morning?

A:  The basic drop off window is during the first hour of the day (9-10am).  If you are going to need to drop off later than that you should text your child’s Naturalist about this prior to camp starting.

Q:  Who do I contact if my child will be missing a day of camp?

A:  Please text/call both of your child’s Naturalists. (Staff cell numbers will be provided before camp starts). You can also email our office at Info@TreeFrogTreks.com for notice.

Q:  If I unexpectedly need to pick up my child in the middle of the day who should I contact?

A:  It is best to text one of your child’s Naturalists directly. You may also contact the office or Camp Director.

Q:  Do you offer pre-care or aftercare hours?

A:  There is no pre-care or aftercare available for 1st-5th grade camps. For the Pre-K camp at Golden Gate Park that ends at 2pm, there is optional aftercare from 2-5pm that you can register for.

Q:  If my child wants to switch groups after camp begins is that possible?

A:  You should talk to the Director at your child’s campsite to discuss if switching groups is an option.  A lot of work goes into the group creations, and we like to keep a 16: 2 camper to Naturalist ratio, so it may not always be possible to switch.

Q:  Can I change something on my Registration after I have registered?

A:  Yes – you can log on to your online account and change anything there (Authorized pick-up names, contact numbers, friend grouping, etc.)  However, if you are making a last minute change within 1 week of your child’s camp session you should contact the office about the change as well, since the Sign-in Folders are prepared in advance and we need to have the most updated information there.
